Overview:Matthew Hill directs this portrait of Anne Lister, an early 19th century Englishwoman who broke many of the stereotypes associated with the women of the era. Lister kept a diary that would eventually contain more than 4,000,000 words documenting her travels and experiences as a lesbian in Yorkshire society. Interestingly, some of the passages are written in code; when deciphered, they reveal the details of Lister's many love affairs with women.
