Biography:Born Leslie Poles Hartley, but more known just as L. P. Hartley. British writer and short story writer. His best-known novels are the Eustace and Hilda trilogy (1947), The Go-Between (1953) and The Hireling (1957). The first was made into a TV movie in 1977, and the other two were made into cinema films in 1971 and 1973.
