Overview:In the first part of this series, we explore the lead-up & early stages of the Korean War. From the liberation of the Korean Peninsula at the end of WWII, the segmentation of the region on the 38th parallel begins almost immediately. After several tense years, the conflict begins in July of 1950 with a surprise invasion by the North. Catching the world & the Americans off guard.
