Amanda Price, an actress-singer superstar, checks in and meets her niece Julie, the hotel employee, for the first time since Julie was eight years old. When Amanda asks Julie to leave the hotel to become her personal assistant, Julie becomes puzzled since Amanda had severed ties with the family twenty years earlier. Amanda also reunites with famous actress Joan Gilbert , who was long ago her friend, but now her enemy. Fueled by champagne, Amanda publicly denounces Joan. Preparing for his bar exam, bellman Dave continues popping pills supplied by his study-buddy.
